![]() Messina Hof Vineyard Bryan, Texas What a wonderful weekend! My parents came down to keep the kids so Dr. Wife and I could get away for a little trip. In her infinite wisdom, Dr. Wife got us tickets to attend the grape harvest at the Messina Hof winery and vineyard in Bryan, Texas. After a brief introduction from the owners Paul and Merrill, we picked up our knives and headed for the fields. They grow Lenoir (aka Black Spanish) grapes at the Bryan vineyard, which is a small black grape with large hard seeds. While they might not be great for fresh eating, they apparently make award winning port wine. I'm not a fan of ports personally (too sweet for me). If you ask me, we were the best pickers there. Of course, we've got experience working outside and harvesting fruit, so it wasn't really a fair competition. Great trip, lots of fun.

Thank you for the blog and thank you for coming to be part of our 2012 vintage! Hope your fruit trees do well and that you come again soon. It was a pleasure to visit with you "through the vines".

I Enjoyed the Messina Hoff Blog Great pictures. Black Spanish grapes make a good concentrated grape juice that you can refrigerate and use with dilute with ice, Club soda or Sparkling water I got to harvested mine. The Birds didn't bother these as much as the possumn did. Dr. Wife takes a great picture, and she.is beautiful.
